Introduction to Zentangle
Zentangle is an easy-to-learn, relaxing way to create beautiful abstract images by drawing repetitive patterns called tangles. It is the perfect exercise to keep your brain flexible, develop creativity and relieve stress. No artistic talent is needed, the tools are simple and portable, and Zentangle can be done by anyone, anywhere, anytime. Zentangle is a fun and affordable way to be creative. Shirl Hawes, a Certified Zentangle Teacher, will teach an introduction to the Zentangle process of creating a beautiful work of art from simple patterns. All materials will be provided.

About Shirl Hawes
Shirl Hawes (pictured above), graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in German and promptly started teaching in elementary school. She enjoyed teaching hundreds of first graders to love reading and writing. Once she retired, Shirl searched for online drawing classes and discovered Zentangle. She attended a retreat in Rhode Island to become a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT). Since then, she has attended annual retreats and online zoom classes to continue learning as Zentangle evolves. In addition to Zentangle, Shirl loves watercolor, knitting, reading, and gardening. She brings her love of teaching and the Zentangle motto “one stroke at a time” to workshops where she teaches projects in manageable steps so that each student can feel success.
