About Deborah Rollins
Deborah has been a Master Gardener since 2009. But long before that - - at her Grandmother’s knee, she learned to love the smell of freshly tilled soil – spending sunny days in the garden and sharing the excitement of growing something delicious to the pallet or delightful for the scenes. Deborah learned from her Grandmother that the best time to enjoy the garden is at sunrise when the flowers are awakening to the buzz of a bee and the light of dawn when butterflies take flight.
Teaching comes naturally to Deborah, and she uses her garden to show friends, neighbors, and anyone who walks by, the wonders of creating gardens that attract, feed, and shelter generations of Butterflies. Deborah is an Earth-Kind specialist and a Monarch enthusiast who joined the Monarch-Watch Team 7 years ago to learn how to track the annual migration of Monarch Butterflies from Canada to Mexico.
In 2017 Deborah inspired the Lake Granbury Master Gardeners to host an annual Romancing the Monarch Butterfly Festival – with hopes to make Hood County the Monarch CAPITAL of North Texas! Now in its 6th year – Romancing the Monarch festival has become a highly anticipated annual attraction in Granbury. Currently, Deborah was nominated Master Gardener of the Year! And Romancing the Monarch Butterfly Festival WON 1st Place in Texas for the best education Master Gardener event of the year!
