More Than a Garden
Clark Gardens is a nonprofit botanical garden rooted in the vision of Max and Billie Clark. What began as their private garden has grown into a place where people come to explore, learn, gather, celebrate, and reconnect with nature.
Today, the Gardens welcomes visitors of all ages through thoughtfully designed landscapes, educational programs, seasonal events, weddings, and opportunities for quiet reflection. Each experience continues the Clarks’ legacy while helping new generations form their own connection with this special place.
In 1972, Max and Billie Clark began transforming a rugged North Texas landscape into a private garden for their family. Through years of hands-on work, imagination, and care, they shaped the land into an oasis filled with gardens, lakes, pathways, and places to gather.
What began as a personal labor of love eventually became something they wanted to share. Their vision grew into Clark Gardens Botanical Park—a living legacy that continues to welcome, teach, and inspire.
Clark Gardens inspires and demonstrates the many rich horticulture and nature-based possibilities of North Texas to tourists and residents alike.
This mission comes to life throughout the Gardens in the plants we cultivate, the experiences we create, and the connections we help people form with nature and one another.
Showcase native and adaptable plants within thoughtfully designed North Texas landscapes.
Create opportunities for children, families, and visitors to learn through meaningful, hands-on experiences.
Offer a peaceful and engaging destination where people can explore, gather, celebrate, and reflect.
Honor the vision of Max and Billie Clark while caring for the Gardens and their legacy for future generations.
Clark Gardens is both a treasured legacy and a living place that continues to grow and change. Caring for the landscapes, maintaining the features Max and Billie created, and providing meaningful experiences for visitors requires ongoing work and community support.
Every visit, membership, volunteer hour, and gift helps preserve the Gardens while making room for what comes next. Together, we can ensure that future generations have a place to explore nature, learn, gather, celebrate, and find rest.
Clark Gardens began with Max and Billie’s vision, but its future depends on the people who believe in what they created. Your support helps care for the Gardens, provide educational experiences, and preserve this special place for generations to come.
